City Of Miami Provides Free Shuttle & Pedicab Service During Art Basel 2008

-Service to Link Art Fairs in Wynwood,
Design District, and Downtown-

(Miami, Florida) – The City of Miami in partnership with a number of the satellite art fairs (Aqua, Art Miami, Art Asia, Scope, Bridge, Red Dot, NADA, Pulse and In Fashion), will provide a park-and-ride shuttle service to and from Miami Beach to Midtown/Wynwood to connect art fairs in those areas during Art Basel Week.  There will be 2 services; one will be a service to and from Miami Beach to Midtown, the other an art fair circulator to connect all the art fairs between Design District, Midtown, Wynwood and Downtown areas.  The service will be available Wednesday, December 3, through Sunday, December 7.

In addition to the park n’ ride shuttle, there will be another unique transportation service available to get from venue to venue: PediCabs! Ocean View Rickshaws with the support of Yage Total Yogurt, will be providing pedicab service to and from any venue between Design, Wynwood and Midtown areas. The service will be in place starting Wednesday, December 3, until Sunday, December 7. This PediCab service will help visitors to navigate to the different destinations, without the headache of traffic or finding a place to park at each venue. Sponsored by Yage Total Yogurt, the PediCab service will be a fun way to navigate between the different fairs, galleries, collections and art studios.

A map listing the major art galleries, art fairs, collections, events and restaurants will be distributed throughout the Downtown, Wynwood, and Design District.  The map was designed by students from the Miami International University of Art & Design with the guidance of the Mayor’s Office of Film & Cultural Affairs and sponsored by the Miami Community Redevelopment Agency.

Visitors will be able to access information on all the major events and pick up a copy of the map at two information booths; one located next to the Rubell Family Collection, 95 NW 29th St. and the other at Red Dot Art Fair on the corner of NE 36th St. and Midtown Blvd.  The information tents are sponsored by Transit Lounge.

For more information, please contact Robert Parente or Katherine Sanoja in the Mayor’s Office of Film & Cultural Affairs: (305) 860-3823.  For a copy of the map, please log onto: www.miamigov.com or www.transitlounge.us
